**IMPORTANT ERRATA

  • Harper character card: Harper’s “Smashed” side is mislabeled as “Ready.” This is only for the original Kickstarter versions.

Clarifications

  • Toby’s Illusion card

    • If the “Toby 2” item is active it supersedes the first part of the “Illusion” card that instructs you to shuffle all minions back into the boss deck. All minions are defeated instead.

    • If the “Toby 2” item is not active, shuffle all in-play minions back into the boss deck. Do not take any minions out of the Boss’s discard pile.

Draw a Villian Card

Draw a card from the villain deck, it might be an attack that directly damages the active player like Tail Sweep, or a minion that will hang around and protect the boss until you defeat him, like a Kobold.

Play an Action Card

Depending on what happens, all players can now play reaction cards like Drink in the Face or Battle Lust. Some cards will be able to combo off of each other, leading to even more reactions!

Character Action or Item Card

The active player can now play an Action card like Lightning Bolt to directly attack the enemies or help in some other way, or play an Item card like Blooddrinker that will stay in play, and boost their abilities until it is canceled out.

The active player then draw cards until you have a full hand, and it is on to the next player!

Once you have gotten the Villain's hit points to zero, you win! Be careful though, if your hit points go too low, your character will become "smashed" - you get a fresh set of hit points and new powers to reflect your smashed state of being. If you drop to zero hit points when smashed, you are down, and one of your team mates will need to heal you to get back in the game. Think of it as a revivify that actually works. If everyone is down, then the villain wins! The heroes end up in a tavern putting themselves back together, and the players might need to pull themselves together as well, depending on how many drinks they dealt* over the course of the game.
